ABOUT

 WELCOME

Someone asked me, the other day, if I think everyone should have psychotherapy?  Don't know why that question surprised me so much!  I can't remember how I answered it, but I remember I felt flummoxed.  So, with time, I have a clearer perspective of 3 thoughts I’ll share with you:

(1.)  Family and friends, generally live the advice they give…so, look carefully.  I say, if you imagine seeing a well-trained psychoanalyst might help you work through a problem, it probably will...

(2.) Short answer:  If you want psychotherapy to educate you so that you can improve the management of your emotional, mental, or behavioral life...call and book a session as soon as you can.

(3.) Within the first 3 visits, you'll know whether the pro you've chosen is genuinely trying to understand you, or is using you to feel "smart" at your expense. You don't have to have a feeling of "like" but you'll definitely feel "listened to", "UN-interrupted", and have an inkling that you may "understand" and "be understood".

Does that sound like I think 'everyone' should have a therapist?
