Three Saturdays – January 23, March 19, May 14, 2016 – 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Symposiums in Mental Health – Las Vegas presents a series of three symposia:

Effective Psychotherapy Approaches with Challenging Patients

(Symposia may be attended individually or in a series)

(1) Evidence-Based Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: From CBT to Modern Psychoanalysis

      5 CE Credits, $120

(2) Principles of Modern Psychoanalytic Treatment: Working with Narcissistic and Borderline Patients

      5 CE Credits, $120

(3) Using Countertransference to Work Therapeutically with the Chronically Dissatisfied, Critical Patient

      5 CE Credits, $120

These three symposia will address a problem we have all faced as therapists: how to work with challenging patients who seem to need something more than our standard approach to treatment. Some have “deep” pathology that makes it hard to alleviate their symptoms, or even to engage them in treatment. They may be negative or oppositional, or lacking a solid sense of personal identity. Over the course of three Saturdays, we will learn about the theory and technique to working successfully with such patients, including those with narcissistic and borderline personality disorders. You may find that incorporating modern psychodynamic approaches enhances your patience and makes your work more effective and rewarding.
